If you’re looking for a relaxed day out in Perth that combines beautiful scenery, good food, and something a little different, then a visit to Lavender Estate should absolutely be on your list.
Just north of Perth, this charming lavender farm is one of those places that feels like a mini escape from the city. Think rolling lawns, lavender-scented air, great brunch options, and plenty of space for kids to run around while the adults relax with a coffee (or something a little stronger!).
I recently visited with family for brunch and it turned out to be one of those easy, slow Perth mornings that remind me exactly why I love living here.
Our Visit To Lavender Estate
Getting To Lavender Estate
Lavender Estate is located in Carabooda, about 40 minutes north of Perth, near Yanchep. It’s an easy drive if you’re heading up the coast, or live locally, and it also makes a lovely stop if you’re exploring the northern suburbs or planning a day trip around the area.
The address is 272 Old Yanchep Road, and there’s plenty of free onsite parking available when you arrive.
I’d recommend making a morning or lunch outing of it. Arrive hungry and give yourself time to wander the grounds afterwards.
Best Time of Year To Visit Lavender Estate
While Lavender Estate is open year-round, the best time to see the lavender fields in full bloom is during the summer months from December through February.
That said, even outside peak bloom season it’s still a lovely place to visit. There are ornamental lavender plants around the property, as well as the actual lavender farm, and the café, lawns and gift shop make it worthwhile any time of year.
If you’re hoping for those dreamy purple-field photos, summer is definitely the time to go.
The Grounds
One of the things I loved most about Lavender Estate is how relaxed and family-friendly the space is.
There’s a huge open lawn area where you can sit and enjoy your food picnic-style. You order from the café and then choose your spot — indoors, on the deck, or out on the grass.
Families will love the amazing playground area for kids, and there’s even a cute little tractor that makes a great photo opportunity (and keep the kids entertained!).
A couple of practical things to know:
- Dogs are welcome, as long as they’re on a lead
- You can’t bring your own food or drinks even if picnicking on the lawn
- The venue is fully licensed, so drinks are available to purchase, don’t BYO
It’s one of those places where you could easily spend a couple of hours just relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere.
The Café
The café has a very relaxed, casual vibe. You order at the counter and everything is served takeaway-style so you can enjoy it wherever you like on the property.
The coffee was great, and I decided to try something a little different — a lavender “not-gin and tonic”. It was honestly delicious and incredibly refreshing on the hot day we visited. Not overly floral or soapy (like some lavender drinks I’ve tried in the past!), just light and summery.
It’s exactly the kind of drink you want when you’re sitting in the Perth sunshine overlooking the purple flowering lavender fields.
The Menu
There’s a good variety of breakfast and lunch options on the menu which is an all-day menu, so there’s definitely something for everyone, even the fussiest of eaters.
During our visit we ordered a few different things between us:
- I had the zucchini frittata, which was light, fluffy and really tasty ($19)
- We also ordered the brekkie burger ($25) and smashed avo with poached eggs ($25), both of which got very good reviews
- We also tried two pizzas – the carnivore ($30) and the margherita ($28)
The pizzas were OK, lovely crispy yet fluffy bases, but the sauce tasted a little fresh and slightly underdeveloped in flavour for our liking, so it’s probably not something we’d order again when there are so many other great options on the menu.
One drink that caught everyone’s attention was the blue lavender matcha — it was absolutely beautiful and very Instagram-worthy!
And if you take one recommendation from this post, let it be this:
Try the lavender ice cream.
I’m not normally a huge fan of lavender-flavoured things, but the ice cream was genuinely delicious — creamy, subtle, and not overpowering at all.
The Lavender Estate Gift Shop
Before you leave, it’s definitely worth popping into the gorgeous gift shop.
Lavender Estate grows and distils its own lavender on the farm, and you’ll find all sorts of lavender-inspired products including essential oils, honey, candles, teas, and body products.
It’s the perfect place to pick up a small gift for that someone special or souvenir from your visit — or just something relaxing for yourself.
Lavender Estate Devonshire Tea & Distillery Tour
If you want a slightly more structured experience, Lavender Estate also offers a Devonshire Tea and Distillery Tour.
This experience includes a freshly baked lavender scone with tea, followed by a short guided talk about the farm and the distillation process used to produce lavender oils on-site.
It’s a lovely option for groups, day trips, or anyone interested in learning a bit more about how the farm operates.
Lavender Estate Opening Hours
Lavender Estate is currently open Thursday to Sunday, but hours vary slightly depending on the day:
- Thursday – Friday: 9:00am – 4:00pm
- Saturday – Sunday: 8:30am – 5:00pm
The kitchen closes roughly an hour before the venue shuts, so it’s best to arrive earlier if you’re planning to eat.

My Verdict on Lavender Estate
Lavender Estate near Yanchep is one of those places that’s perfect for a slow Perth morning — good food, fresh air, and plenty of space to relax.
Whether you’re visiting with friends, bringing the kids for a play on the lawn, or just looking for a unique brunch spot outside the city, it’s definitely worth the drive.
