Life In Perth

Business Insights – Chantelle Venter Photography

This week we are featuring Chantelle Venter from Chantelle Venter Photography. She is one of the most talented photographers in Perth and she just happens to be an awesome South African as well!

Tell us how you first got involved in your industry.

I have always been interested in and passionate about photography. But when I had my first born, the need to capture every single detail of bub sparked and that’s where my wonderful journey started.

What does a typical day in your role/business look like?

Mapping out a session in my mind, planning use of props and finding the perfect spot and light for a session (THIS IS ALL THE FUN PART) Then sitting in front of the computer for hours scanning images and searching the perfect ones and perfecting every detail.

What has surprised you most about working in your job?

The fact that beauty is all around us and it’s in everything we touch and see. And every single person is beautiful, yet it’s so hard to make people see their true beauty the way it truly is.

What do you find most challenging about your job?

It’s not always that easy running after children and toddlers when I’m not fit at all, hehehe.

What do you wish other people knew about your job/business?

People often say that it’s so easy to just push the button of my camera. But very few actually realise how many hours go into editing every image. The amount of time spent studying different techniques. The cost of equipment and workshops. The list goes on. It’s a very expensive business to start and maintain.

What might people be surprised to know about you?

I am actually really shy.

If you weren’t doing this job, what would you be doing instead?

I would love to work with children or animals.

How would your colleagues describe you?

Always up for a challenge and a hard worker

What do you do when you aren’t working?

Relaxing and loving my 2 dear boys and husband.
