Defending the Caveman is one of the most well-known comedy shows in South Africa, and it’s coming to Perth this November! Tim Plewman returns to this classic comedy show after a 5 year break and is bringing the show to Perth’s Regal Theatre for one night only on Friday 17 November.
Originally written back in the early 1990s by American Rob Becker, the show was adapted by Tim for South African audiences and he has performed over 1500 sold out shows across the world.
Defending The Caveman Comes To Perth
This new production has been updated to reflect today’s world of tweeting, selfies and Facebook but still consists of the core comedy about why men and women see the world so differently. The show is the longest running solo play in Broadway history and has been seen in over 40 countries.
Tim Plewman has been acting and entertaining since 1978 and is an award winning South African actor. I asked him why Perth and why now and Tim said:
“Over the past three years we have had so many requests from ex-pats asking if I am coming out to Australia to do the show, or if I have a video recording of the production.”
A few months ago, Tim was contacted by South African Spiros Scafidis from Velocity Promotions and asked if he would be interested in bringing his show to Perth. Velocity Promotions has hosted other South African comedians in Perth and saw potential for Defending The Caveman in Perth.
Tim is really excited for the show and if it is a success, there is talk of potential further shows across Australia!
