Rose & Crown Guildford

Rose & Crown Hotel Guildford

We recently decided to have a day out in the Swan Valley with family who are visiting and popped into the Rose & Crown for lunch in Historic Guildford. It’s the oldest hotel in WA and the second oldest operating hotel in Australia so it’s a real historical little gem. We’d eaten there before in the Posh Convicts restaurant and thought the food and service was fabulous and were keen to return.

This time, we opted for a table outside in the garden with table service – there is a more casual section outside where you can order your food and drinks at the bar as well. We managed to grab one of the last tables of the day, having arrived just after 1pm without a booking and they managed to squeeze us in which was great.

The menu is interesting with some great combinations and they have daily specials as well.

Their kids menu is good too especially if you have a fussy eater like me!

Between us we ordered the fish and chips (which was a massive hit all round), the vego tart special, the gnocchi special and the kids chicken and chips.

By the end of the meal each plate was clean – everyone loved their food!

We decided to have a look at the dessert menu and were persuaded to try a couple of them – the chocolate praline with Jersey sauce and roasted hazelnuts (we swapped the coconut yoghurt ice cream that normally comes with it for the coffee gelato) and the apple mousse which was to die for!

This has to be some of the best ‘pub food’ we’ve had in Perth. The service is also friendly and welcoming so it’s easy to see why this spot is always busy! The manager Brendan goes out of his way to make sure everyone is taken care of so hats off to him! I’d also highly recommend booking a table if you want to go as you wouldn’t want to be disappointed or have to wait for ages for a table.

They also have live music on Fridays from 4pm – 7pm and Sunday afternoons from 2:30pm to 6pm which creates a fab atmosphere. In winter, they have gas heaters outside and a huge fire pit going so you can sit outside and enjoy the gardens even in the cooler weather.

Have you been to The Rose & Crown in Guildford? What did you think? I’d love to hear in the comments!
