South African Comedy Allstars 2018 – Perth Comedy Festival

It’s that time of year again! The annual Perth Comedy Festival has kicked off and we’ve got 5 of South Africa’s best comedians heading to Perth and Sydney to perform as the South African Comedy Allstars.

Last year’s show featured Tumi Morake, John Vlismas, Loyiso Gola, and Tats Nkonzo.

This year, Tumi and John are returning and bringing another 3 comedians with them – Robby Collins, Dusty Rich, and Alfred Adriaan.

Robby Collins

You may remember Robby from the brilliant South African Tourism video that did the rounds last year. It was called ‘Come Home Bru‘ and mocked Australian icons while trying to entice South Africans in Australia to head back, even if it was just for a holiday.

Robby is from Durban and has had a relatively quick rise to fame on the comedy circuit. He’s opened for comedians such as Marc Lottering and Trevor  Noah (who is also returning to Perth later this year).

Alfred Adriaan

Alfred Adriaan has performed across the world and been nominated for 5 South African Comics Choice awards.

He’s been in some movies and appeared on TV including on Come Dine With Me in the UK.

There aren’t many video clips out there of him, but I did manage to find this one.

Dusty Rich

South African born Dusty has lived in Australia since 2016 and has built a pretty solid comedy career.

Like Robbie, he’s also toured with Trevor Noah, in fact, he’s toured with him several times over the years.

Dusty says his shows are often just him and his stream of consciousness, out loud, which means you’ll never see the same show twice.

Tumi Morake

Often referred to as South Africa’s First Lady of comedy, Tumi is no stranger to our shores.

She was part of the South African Comedy Allstars in 2017 and returns this year with more hilarity in tow.

Her set last year had me in stitches, especially about being a mother and wife – I think all women could relate to her show last time!

John Vlismas

After seeing John perform back in my uni days, it was great to see him here in Perth last year.

I’m really looking forward to his set, as he is always so funny and my face hurts from laughing when he’s on stage.

He’s been in the industry for over 20 years and always manages to walk the fine line between what’s hilarious and what really pushes the boundary.
