Ever since we moved to Perth and started checking out all the amazing summer events that are held throughout the city, I have wanted to check out Rooftop Movies.
Set in the heart of Northbridge at the top of the Roe Street car park, the view when the lift opens is just breathtaking. A huge cinema screen, bean bags and deck chairs lined up, retro decor and cute caravans selling your usual cinema snacks as well as wine, beer and a pizza stand.
You can take your own food and non-alcoholic drinks but if you want alcohol you have to purchase it on site.
The pizza is from Dough Pizza in Northbridge – the menu is limited but you can order different pizzas and have them delivered from the same pizzeria over the road, it just takes a bit longer.
In terms of atmosphere, you can’t beat this outdoor cinema experience. With the city skyscrapers surrounding you, it’s an awesome spot to watch the sunset and follow it up with a movie. They screen a variety of films from the latest blockbusters (Interstellar, Taken 3, The Water Diviner) to quirky foreign films and some real classics (Jaws, The Goonies).
General tickets are $15, parking is $10 and pizzas range from $17 to $24.
Overall I would highly recommend Rooftop Movies for your next night out, whether its with family, friends or a romantic date. It runs until 11 April for this season but will hopefully be back for a new season next summer! Check out the upcoming program here.
Have you been to Rooftop Movies? What did you see and what did you think?
