UnWined Subiaco 2016

UnWined Subiaco 2016

Every year Wine & Food Events WA host a variety of awesome events around Perth and UnWined in Subiaco is one of my favourites.

This year, I won tickets to attend from Willow Bridge Estate so a big thanks to them! Normally tickets start from $25 per person but this year there were a few upgraded ticket options as well.

House Of Cards Wines Frose

Our favourite Margaret River winery, House Of Cards, was there this year so we made a beeline for their stand. I was excited to discover they had Frose – frozen rose (think grown up slushy!) so we went back for a glass to have with our lunch later.

There are lots of WA wine producers at each event, from the Swan Valley to Margaret River and the Great Southern region. It’s a great chance to try some wines from vineyards that are further away. There are also normally some breweries and distilleries with beers and spirits to sample and a great selection of food trucks for when you’re getting hungry.

In addition, they have a wine theatre and a food theatre. At the wine theatre you can enjoy a masterclass and taste a few different wines in one sitting. We attended the Sparkling Styles masterclass and got to try 4 very different sparkling wines.

My favourite was the Pandemonium Estate Moscato which would be perfect for Christmas Day (or any other special occasion!) so we headed straight over to grab a bottle.

The food theatre has different local chefs cooking up a storm all day and you can watch them cook and then try their food.

As I follow a fab wine blogger called The Travelling Corkscrew, she’s recommended we check out Silverstream Wines so we popped along and I have to say I loved their Reisling and their Pinot Noir.

Last year they added a wine locker facility so if you purchase any wine on the day (and there are some great deals to be had), you can store it until you leave, meaning you don’t have to lug it around all day.

I highly recommend UnWined and any of the other events run by Wine & Food Events WA – City Wine and Sunset Wine.

Have you been to UnWined? Which is your favourite exhibitor and have you discovered any awesome wines here?
