Madiba The Musical - Proudly South African In Perth

Madiba The Musical Comes To Australia

Madiba The Musical is coming to Australia!

The hit show premiered in France in early 2016 and is now embarking on a brand new production tour across Australia.

In the year that Nelson Mandela would have been 100 years old, this is the perfect time for this show to come to our shores.

Madiba The Musical

It’s the first English language version of the show which opens in Australia in October 2018, and will later be touring New Zealand, the UK, and America in 2019.

It’s a powerful and uplifting stage show that celebrates the life of Nelson Mandela and is interwoven with stories of the fight against apartheid and a forbidden love in troubled South Africa.

It pays tribute to the South African icon whilst exploring the struggles, racial conflicts and divisions during his crusade for reconciliation in South Africa.

African dance and vocal traditions are given a contemporary setting alongside eternal love songs and stirring anthems in a show that tells of Mandela’s life work as a lawyer and activist for peace through the story of young artist Will, who is the victim of apartheid in South Africa.

Nelson Mandela’s grandson, Ndaba, describes the show as “the best show about my grandfather” – high praise indeed.

French writers Alicia Sebrien and Jean-Pierre Hadida said in creating Madiba the Musical, they wanted to tell the story of Mandela’s pursuit of peace and reconciliation in his homeland.

They said the musical was also timed to mark 25 years since the abolition of apartheid in South Africa.

“There are no languages that are more universal than music and dancing to reconcile nations, cultures, religions, and generations,” said the show’s creators. “We want to remember Madiba; Nelson Mandela is certainly the last providential figure of the 20th century.”
